Welcome to the Family!
My name is
Brant Meadows. This site is the story of my family... or should I say
our
families. With more than
9,000 names of individuals and more than
1,600
surnames, it's hard to simply limit it to a single
last name!
The Family Tree
There is no portion of this website that is more important than The Family Tree! It's a remarkable database containing the countless names of individuals in our family. But it's not just names and dates... overall, the information presents an incredible description of the history of our collective families, which for several lines goes all the way back to Europe in the 1500's!
Wherever you see the tree icon (to the left), just click it
and it will take you right to
The Family Tree!
(All links to the Family Tree will open in a new window.)
Help Maintain Our Family Tree:
If you find a relative in the tree, but you or other members of your immediate family are not listed, or if that long-lost relative is lost to The Family Tree, be sure to visit the Revisions to the Family Tree page to add yourself or your relatives!
Relatives
Strictly for the living, the Relatives section will give you details about the three ways in which we can keep in "electronic" touch with our extended family members...
Bulletin
Boards
Genealogy.com has what is probably the most extensive history of discussions on the Internet about our about our various family surnames. Many of our relatives regularly visit this and other similar sites. Check out the big three (to the right). All are free.
The Family
Calendar
Another way to keep up with family happenings is to post an event to our Family Calendar. (Visit the Calendar How-To page for instructions.) It's for any family-wide event: Reunions, Weddings, Graduations... or whatever event affects your branch of the family!
History
We came from very far away places! See exactly from where at the Origins page. See how the concept of surnames first came to be, learn where our ancestors first originated, and find out who were our first family members to take the plunge and come to America!
The Geography page shows the places where our ancestors lived, and where we live today. Although it's far from complete - in the future it will have a great mapping system - but with the current use of Wikipedia, you'll be able to get an idea of how we've roamed over the centuries!
Soon there will be an all-important War Veterans' page. It's not up and running yet, but eventually you'll find almost every wartime family veteran who put his or her life on the line for the defense of our liberty. From the English Civil War... to the War Between the States... to the Persian Gulf War... soon they'll all be there!
Reunions and Photographs
Reunions are always in the works! Check out the Reunions page... and feel free to send me an e-mail with any information that you might wish to share!
And don't forget to see the Photographs page! Currently, it contains several photos of the Hall-Meadows Family reunion from October 2004. And definitely feel free to download any photographs you see!
