Origins
Where We Originated:
One thing's for sure... there's an awful lot of
English blood in our veins!
But of course, not even
The Queen herself is 100%
English. So here's a
very rough breakdown of what I know about this (extended) family.

Here's Something to Note:

The oldest person in our Family Tree was William Glasscock, who was born in England in about the year 1455

In fact, there are two things to consider when determining from where we originated...
- The Surname's Origin (Its ancestral homeland) Visit this page to see where our last names first originated.
- The Embarkation Point (The location where our ancestor was living when he/she decided to come to America.) Visit this page to see which individual family members emigrated from Europe to America.
For example, consider the Hall Family's origin. The surname originated in Scotland (or Germany.. we're not sure), but we have no idea from what place in Europe the first Hall family member emigrated. Therefore, no member of the Hall will be listed on the Embarkation Point page.
Native Americans
A word about Native Americans. Here are a few family members who were known to be of Native American blood:
| Name | Birth-Death | Tribe |
| Rachel Adair | (unknown-unknown) | Cherokee |
| Aggie Brewer | (unknown-unknown) | Cherokee |
| Nancy Choate | (unknown-unknown) | Cherokee |
| Missouri Mikous | (1876-1947) | Cherokee |
| Nancy Mumford | (1855-1927) | Cherokee |
| Nancy Pettit | (unknown-unknown) | Cherokee |
| Aursakie Potts | (unknown-unknown) | Cherokee |
No doubt there are significant other ties with Native Americans to be uncovered. I will
proudly display every
Native
American person I discover in this location.
History of Surnames:
So
who thought up the idea of surnames anyway? It's actually an
interesting story. Visit the
History
of Surnames page to find out. Here's a hint: We will probably never
find most of our ancestors prior to the year 1500.
